The 2021/22 Opera kids edition is part of the project Opera and Early Childhood Education (OECE) – Building European Awareness through Music in Pandemia Times, an action financed by the European program Erasmus+.
The project is coordinated by the University of Oviedo in Spain, and, in addition to AsLiCo, joined by four partner organisations from Spain, Italy and Bulgaria: Fundación Ópera de Oviedo, Università Degli Studi di Milano Bicocca, Academy of Music, Dance and Fine Arts in Plovdiv and State Opera Plovdiv.
The aims of the project are to promote social inclusion in times of crisis through the creation of quality educational content and the enhancement of music as a fundamental vehicle for growth and knowledge in early childhood education, based on the belief that opera, as Europe’s cultural heritage, be the ideal tool for increasing the sense of unity among citizens of all ages. In particular, OECE‘s first objective is to promote opera as an inclusive tool for populations in rural and peripheral areas, through educational experiences related to opera aimed at fostering access to culture, and especially music, for children between 0 and 6 years old.
