Opera kids is part of the project Opera and Early Childhood Education (OECE) – Building European Awareness through Music in Pandemic Times, an initiative funded by the Erasmus+ program of the European Union. The project is coordinated by the University of Oviedo in Spain, which is joined, in addition to AsLiCo, by four partner organizations from Spain, Italy and Bulgaria: Fundación Ópera de Oviedo, Università Degli Studi di Milano Bicocca, Academy of Music, Dance and Fine Arts of Plovdiv and the State Opera of Plovdiv. The objectives of the project are the promotion of social inclusion in times of crisis through the creation of quality educational content and the enhancement of music as a fundamental vehicle for growth and knowledge in early childhood education, believing that opera, as a European cultural heritage, is the ideal tool to increase the sense of unity among citizens of all ages. In particular, OECE’s first objective is to promote opera as an inclusive tool for populations in rural and peripheral areas, through educational experiences related to opera aimed at encouraging access to culture, and to music in particular, for children between 0 and 6 years.
